I'm in the recruitment process with RLM Recruit. How often should I hear from you?
This very much depends on the length and speed of the process. At the very least, you should hear from us while we are waiting for feedback on the initial application. We will help you prepare for your interview and following on from your interview, we will discuss your thoughts and how you would like to proceed. You should also expect that we communicate with you leading up to your first day, and then in your initial stages of employment.
How do I ace an interview?
Some areas to focus on are;
Research the company and interviewers. LinkedIn is a good source for researching the people you will meet. Perhaps, you have something in common? This would be a good icebreaker.
Familiarise yourself with the job description.
Re-read your CV. An employer may ask you questions about specific elements of your CV.
Ask your recruiter if they have any information that will give you a better insight into the opportunity and the interviewers. Not everything is written online or on a job description!
Prepare 5-10 questions that you can ask at the end of the interview. It is important that you get a full picture of the opportunity before you decide if it is right for you.
Research common interview questions asked by an employer and prepare your answers. Use specific examples, and where possible, include facts and figures. Perhaps you can practice your answers with a friend, partner or in front of the mirror?
On the day of the interview, leave for the interview with plenty of time and consider possible traffic conditions and public transport. Aim to arrive 10-15 minutes before your appointment. You can use this time to compose yourself and go over any notes you have made.
During the interview, remain calm and positive, and remember the hard work you have put in.
If it helps you, take a pad and pen so you can take notes during the conversation. You can also refer to any questions you had planned.
Should I listen to online reviews of companies?
We recommend you read online reviews and use this information as part of your overall decision-making process, and not use it in isolation. The reviews will help you ask better questions of your recruiter and / or during an interview.
